Why is my design loading slowly?
Troubleshooting steps for freezing, lagging, or slow loading times in SimplyScapes.
SimplyScapes performs well for most users, but occasionally you may experience freezing, lagging, or slow loading times. These issues are typically browser-specific and can often be resolved with a few simple troubleshooting steps.
Common causes of performance issues
- Browser settings or permissions interfering with the app
- Browser extensions conflicting with SimplyScapes features
- Slow internet connection affecting image loading
- Outdated browser version lacking optimal WebGL support
- Account login issues causing the dashboard to hang
Step 1: Try a different browser
The fastest way to identify if your issue is browser-specific is to test SimplyScapes in a different browser.
Recommended browsers:
- Google Chrome
- Microsoft Edge
Both provide excellent WebGL support, which SimplyScapes uses to deliver smooth performance by interacting directly with your computer's graphics hardware.
To test:
- Download and install an alternative browser
- Navigate to SimplyScapes and log in
- Test the problem areas (moving plants, resizing images, loading designs)
If performance improves, the problem is likely related to your original browser's settings or extensions.
Step 2: Check your account email
Make sure you're logging in with the same email address used for your subscription. Using a different email can cause the dashboard to freeze or hang because the account won't have an active subscription tied to it.
Step 3: Clear your browser cache
Temporary files stored by your browser can sometimes conflict with SimplyScapes. Clearing your cache removes these files and often resolves loading issues.
Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Clear Browsing Data → select "Cached images and files" → Clear Data
Edge: Settings → Privacy, Search, and Services → Clear Browsing Data → select "Cached images and files" → Clear Now
Step 4: Disable browser extensions
Browser extensions can interfere with SimplyScapes functionality. Temporarily disable all extensions to see if performance improves.
Chrome: Menu (three dots) → Extensions → Manage Extensions → toggle off all extensions
Edge: Menu (three dots) → Extensions → toggle off all extensions
If disabling extensions fixes the issue, re-enable them one at a time to identify which extension is causing the conflict.
Step 5: Check your internet connection
Slow internet can affect how quickly images and designs load. Visit speedtest.net to check your connection speed. If your connection is slow, try a different network or contact your internet provider.
Step 6: Update your browser
Older browser versions may lack performance optimizations that SimplyScapes relies on.
Chrome: Menu → Help → About Google Chrome (updates automatically)
Edge: Menu → Help and Feedback → About Microsoft Edge (updates automatically)
Step 7: Check browser permissions
Make sure JavaScript is enabled in your browser settings. SimplyScapes requires JavaScript to function properly.
Go to your browser's site settings and verify JavaScript is set to "Allow."

Why SimplyScapes runs best in Chrome and Edge
SimplyScapes uses WebGL (Web Graphics Library) to deliver smooth, high-performance graphics. WebGL allows the app to interact directly with your computer's graphics card, enabling complex actions like moving, resizing, and editing plants and objects without lag.
